Sustainable Development

The recently defined international and European directives are the evidence that we have definitely entered the sustainable development era.

For large industries, this evolution goes with new regulatory requirements as well as new environmental standards that they will have to progressively comply with. The strategies they are defining now must allow them to meet those requirements while still maximizing their profit and trying to acquire a competitive edge on the market.

In light of this, and based on our experience and expertise, we have developed an innovative methodology at AtheliA that enables our customers to face those new strategic challenges:

  • which solution, which strategy and which level of investment will it take to make sure the manufacturing related emissions actually comply with these regulations;
  • how can they measure their conformity level and the efficiency of the strategies and investments implemented in order to meet those regulatory objectives.

In order to answer the first question, we have developed a unique approach which consists in analyzing the data gathered by the numerous probes already in place on the different stages of the manufacturing process as well as the sensors measuring the manufacturing process related emissions.

Unlike the traditional scientific or engineering analysis techniques, we perform a parametric analysis of the data. We try to bring to light the existing interrelations between certain variables of the manufacturing process and the emission rates. We then provide a number of recommendations in order to better control the manufacturing process and reduce the emission rates while maintaining the same level of production and minimizing the investment required in the production tools.

To address the second issue – measuring the conformity level and the environmental performance – we offer consulting services for setting up a global information platform dedicated to environmental matters. We rely on the recognized standards of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Such a platform allows our customers to:

  • measure the existing gap with the environmental norms as well as the efficiency of the strategies deployed to meet the regulatory requirements;
  • generate internal or external communication reports on the level of conformity to those norms;
  • produce the mandatory reporting required by the legislator.

Our Data Management expertise was a key asset in the development of this service offering, together with the advice of environmental specialists.

Our approach is comprehensive as it ensures the integrity of the data from the early stages of their generation to their consolidation into a centralized referential, their use in order to improve the manufacturing processes and finally their transformation into strategic information.
